Freddie Mac Foundation's Wednesday's Child Success Stories
Korey, Gregory, and DeSean
Brothers Korey, Gregory, and DeSean needed a caring, permanent family to provide them stability and love. While in foster care, the brothers were featured on the Freddie Mac Foundation's Wednesday's Child D.C. program on NBC-4 news. They were also featured in the Foundation's Heart Gallery – a compelling portrait exhibit of foster children in need of adoption. Today, thanks to these efforts, the three boys have found a loving, adoptive family. Their adoption was finalized this past August.
The Diaz Family
In Los Angeles, the Freddie Mac Foundation's Wednesday's Child on Fox 11 news helped unite Richard and Sandra Diaz with three children in need of adoption. Today, their eldest son Austin, adopted along with siblings Bianca and Gary, is a sophomore in college. And unlike nearly 25,000 foster children who age out of foster care every year and are on their own, Austin knows that no matter where life takes him, he'll always have a loving family and a place to call home.
The Freddie Mac Foundation's Wednesday's Child has found adoptive homes for more than 1,400 children in foster care who've appeared on the program. Many of the featured children are considered 'hard-to-place'– often simply because of their age of the fact they are among sibling groups. The program has also generated more than 43,000 viewer inquiries, leading to the adoptions of many other children from foster care. The Freddie Mac Foundation Heart Gallery, the first Heart Gallery in the Washington, D.C. region, has helped find homes for 34 children and raised critical public awareness of the needs of children in foster care.
