Washington, DC – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) today named Freddie Mac, headquartered in McLean, VA, as a finalist for a Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of U.S. Community Service.
"Freddie Mac has shown exemplary dedication to the community and the Chamber wants to acknowledge its efforts," said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue. "The business sector can be a valuable partner in solving important local challenges, and Freddie Mac's work in the community is a prime example."
Freddie Mac is being recognized for its support of the Freddie Mac Foundation's work to find adoptive homes for children in foster care across the United States, and improving the lives of foster children and their foster families.
The U.S. Community Service Award, now in its 8th year, acknowledges businesses and chambers of commerce for corporate citizenship programs that contribute to social and civic progress in communities in the United States. Entergy Corporation, Safeway Inc., Time Warner's Cartoon Network and the Victoria Chamber of Commerce are also finalists in this category.
The winner is selected by a panel of corporate citizenship leaders, including past winners and BCLC's board of directors. The winner will be announced on November 7 at a celebration dinner at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. Six hundred business, civic, and government leaders are expected to attend the event.
BCLC's mission is to advance the positive role of business in society. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
