Foundation grantee Transitional Housing Corporation has begun renovating a vacant and blighted apartment complex in D.C. with support from a variety of partners, including Freddie Mac and the Freddie Mac Foundation.

For a decade, the Freddie Mac Foundation has partnered with THC in the vital work of moving families from homelessness to permanent affordable housing.

By renovating historic Fort View Apartments, THC is creating opportunities for 62 more families to have safe, affordable homes.

“This is a huge boost for the community, at a time when it’s greatly needed,” said Freddie Mac Chairman of the Board John Koskinen.

For the project, Freddie Mac provided the credit enhancement on U.S. Treasury bonds issued through the Obama Administration’s New Issue Bond Program. Funding from the Freddie Mac Foundation will help provide needed residential services, such as career counseling, wellness programs and family enrichment.
